Learning to Trust Your Intuition

Tip of the Week: Learning to Trust Your Intuition

For ADHD and autistic girls, it can be challenging to feel confident in trusting your own instincts, especially when you’ve grown up feeling “different” or misunderstood. Learning to trust your intuition can help you feel more grounded, empowered, and secure in your decisions. Here are three tips to help you start listening to your inner voice:

1. Start Small: Practice tuning into your gut feeling on small, everyday decisions. Whether it’s choosing what to wear, deciding on a hobby, or picking out a snack, notice what feels right for you—not what you think others expect. Building this habit can make it easier to trust your instincts in bigger decisions.

2. Reflect on Past Wins: Look back on times when following your intuition worked out well, even if it went against the crowd. Reflecting on these moments can remind you that your instincts often know what’s best for you. It can help you build trust in yourself one step at a time.

3. Honor Your Boundaries: Learning to say “no” or “not right now” when something doesn’t feel right is a powerful way to listen to your inner voice. Don’t be afraid to take a step back, pause, or ask for time to think. You don’t need to explain yourself if something feels off—honoring your boundaries is a sign of strength.

Remember: You are the expert of your own experiences. Learning to trust yourself takes time, but the more you listen to your intuition, the more confident you’ll feel. Your unique perspective is a gift—embrace it!
